Simba thrash Azam FC to reach FA Cup semi-final

Simba SC yesterday reached the semi-final of the Azam Sport Federation Cup after dethroning cup holders Azam FC 2-0 in the last quarterfinal game played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

They cruised to the last four in style by playing an attractive football and dominating the game much to the delight of the fans who turned up at the stadium.

Captain John Bocco opened the scoring with a header in the 39th minute from a delicious Francis Kahata cross.

Their center back Kennedy Juma got injured in the 41st minute after colliding with Obrey Chirwa and had to be replaced by Erasto Nyoni.

Clatous Chama scored the second goal with a ferocious strike inside the penalty box in the 57th minute having been set up by Shomari Kapombe and Azam FC goalkeeper Benedict Haule could do nothing to stop.

In the last 10 minutes before the final whistle,their players held onto the ball playing short passes among themselves much to the delight of the fans.

This is the five times this season facing Azam FC and they have managed to win all the games.

Having dethroned the cup holders,their next opponents are their traditional archrivals Yanga in the semi-final match.
